2014 SpongeBob Highlander Tanked Edition Brings Bikini Bottom to SEMA
Usually, it’s a bad thing when there’s enough water to fill an aquarium in your car (just think of the mold build up!). But when that water is actually in an aquarium—an aquarium made by the co-stars of Animal Planet’s Tanked, no less—it’s pretty spectacular. Even more so if it’s SpongeBob themed, as is the case with the 2014 SpongeBob Highlander: Tanked Edition.
The Tanked Edition Highlander brought the pineapple under the sea to the 2013 SEMA Show, the baby of a marriage between Toyota, Nickelodeon, and the creative minds of Tanked, who build customized aquariums. With a bright, SpongeBob-themed wrap covering every inch of the vehicle, similar to the one Toyota showed on a differently wrapped version earlier this year, the friendly little square-pants-wearing sponge can be found inside and out.
With an 800-gallon tank starting behind the front two seats, the aquarium holds 115 different fish and a whole bunch of SpongeBob themed items inside. Along with a starfish to represent SpongeBob’s best friend Patrick, aquatic creatures such as squirrelfish, Fiji Foxface, flame angel, clownfish and pilot fish all inhabit the tank as SpongeBob blows some of his spectacular bubbles.
The “Tanked” episode that shows just how the tank was made will air in March 2014 on Animal Planet, highlighting the distinctive new styling, smart storage and abundance of technology seen within the new 2014 Highlander.
How would you feel about taking a ride in the 2014 SpongeBob Highlander Tanked Edition?
