2015 Infiniti Q70 and QX80, New Variants Unveiled at NYIAS
At this past week’s New York International Auto Show opening ceremonies, Infiniti brought pretty much everything but the kitchen sink. Of course, if Infiniti Americas president Michael Bartsch had come sauntering into the Jacob Javits Convention Center with an armload of porcelain, people may have thought him to be a bid of an odd bird. It’s probably better, then, that the attention fell upon Infiniti’s 2015 model lineup, including the redesigned 2015 Infiniti Q70 and QX80 and their limited edition kin.
While the 2015 Infiniti Q70 and QX80 being the subjects of comprehensive redesigns is in and of itself exciting, much focus was paid to each model’s new variant. The 2015 Q70L will be a long wheelbase variation that adds an additional 5.9 inches of wheelbase for a more imposing look to the already-impressive premium sedan.

Infiniti’s full-size SUV, the QX80, will be getting a Limited model. It is said to offer an “ultra-luxury interior in a 3-row/7-passenger contemporary platform” and will benefit from Infiniti’s All-Mode AWD®, Hydraulic Body Motion control, and a 5.6-liter V8 engine that generates 400 horsepower and allows for 8,500 lbs of towing capacity. Additionally, the QX80 Limited will get an exclusive Truffle Brown interior that features brown, black, and silver leather and wood appointments and trim.

“In 2014, Infiniti enters its 25th year here in the United States and we’re going to make it a year to remember,” said the not-at-all-sink-carrying Bartsch. “The new Q70L, with nearly six inches added to the length of the cabin, brings SUV levels of rear legroom to this type of sedan for the first time. And the new QX80 Limited answers the demand from QX80 owners for a vehicle that is more sophisticated but not over-the-top – and one that remains at its core pure Infiniti. These two new models should also attract many new ultra-luxury buyers to the Infiniti brand.”
In addition to their special editions, the 2015 Infiniti Q70 and QX80 will each benefit from considerable upgrades. The QX80 will feature a revised face that features new LED high/low beams, turn signals, and fog lights and a new bumper. Aspects of both the interior and exterior will be tweaked to create a fresher look, and the 2015 model will get new standard safety technologies such as High Beam Assist and Predictive Forward Collision Warming (PFCW).
The 2015 Q70 will also get an extensive interior and exterior redesign in order to make it look even more upscale than its predecessor. The front end will receive new LED headlights, a double-arch grille with waved mesh finish and chrome surround, new bumper, and integrated fog lights. The rear will have a chrome rear finisher, LED combination lights, and a new trunklid shape.
