2015 Silverado Engine Lineup Brings Power, Proficiency
The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado handily won the title of North American Truck of the Year for doing everything that the consumer expects a truck to do and then taking it an extra step. One of those extra steps—in a day and age where the cost of gasoline is still enough to make pickup drivers crazy even when it’s at its lowest in some time—is superlative fuel economy to complement raw power. With the 2015 Silverado engine lineup, consumers can expect a repeat performance from three of the most impressive blocks on the block.
“The latest Small Block engines are ideally suited to Silverado and to the tough jobs that pickup customers do every day,” said Jordan Lee, global chief engineer and program manager for Small Block engines. “We give customers the power and torque of a full-size truck engine when they need it, then use Active Fuel Management and other advanced technologies to seamlessly shift to four-cylinder operation when the truck is under light loads, making the most of fuel efficiency.”

Active Fuel Management, exclusive to Chevy’s EcoTec 3 engines, deactivates cylinders to save fuel during light load driving. This helps the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 operate at the highest level of efficiency in its class, returning 23 highway miles per gallon while providing an output of 355 horsepower.
The burly 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 ramps it up to 420 horsepower without sacrificing much in the way of economy, returning an impressive 21 highway miles per gallon.
For a perfect balance of power and performance, the 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6 returns 23 highway mpg while putting down 285 horsepower.
Chevrolet has a sample of more than 100 million engines to support the credentials of the 2015 Silverado engine lineup, making it among the surest things on the market today.

“Silverado is from the family of the most dependable, longest lasting full-size pickups on the road,” said John Fitzpatrick, Silverado marketing manager. “Our latest generation of Small Block engines help customers save money at the pump with engines that have been improved and by real-world experience.”
