Report: 2016 Shelby GT350 Price to Start at $52,995
The 2016 Shelby GT350 was one of the worst-kept secrets at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, but the almost universal understanding that it was coming didn’t stop anybody from getting giddy about it anymore than it stopped people from getting amped up about the first Star Wars VII trailer.
(Though, to be fair, nobody wrote 5,000-word explanations/defenses/critiques about the GT350’s racing stripes.)
While details as to when the new Shelby GT350 is arriving and what will separate it from the GT are sparse (apart from the fact that it will sport Ford’s first naturally aspirated flat-plane crankshaft V8), HorsepowerKings.com cites a conversation with an unnamed source that has the 2016 Shelby GT350 price starting at $52,995.
Further, the website states that there will be an additional tech package available for $2,995; a track package that will increase the already-impressive estimate of 500 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque; and an eventual Shelby GT350R that is slated to be unveiled at NAIAS in January with upgraded brakes, tires, and aerodynamics kit.
As AutoBlog notes, pricing the GT350 in the low $50K range would allow it to undercut the Camaro ZL1 and Camaro Z/28.
We will withhold judgment until Detroit, but if these reports are steeped in some degree of fact, then we might be in for a real treat.
