Elton John and James Corden Hit The Road
On a rainy day, sometimes you need a bit of music to help you get through the morning commute. If you’re host of The Late Late Show, you skip hooking up the music player to your car’s infotainment system and call Elton John to provide the tunes instead.
In the latest installment of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, music superstar Elton John joined the late night host on a spin around rain-soaked LA and sang some of the artist’s most famous songs while they talked about life. Check out the whole video for yourself below:
While the whole ride was a joy, some of the best times were had when Corden and John donned appropriately flamboyant accessories. The singer confessed to Corden that he started wearing crazy costumes because a man with a piano wasn’t really considered a superstar, so he did something to make himself and the music noticed. Disney fans should be happy to know that not only did the duo sing along to “The Circle of Life” from The Lion King, but they got into character and took turns dressing up like a lion as well.
When James Corden asked the singer about his shopping habits and why he buys four copies of every record he wants to add to his collection, Elton John replied by saying that he needed a copy for each of his homes. Corden then suggested he could load the music on a digital player instead, and John admitted that he didn’t have a phone, but instead relies on someone around him to have a device.
The interview also touched on topics such as John’s diva personality and his two children. At the end of the segment, Elton John referred to James Corden as his future husband. I’m sure Elton John’s husband David Furnish and James Corden’s wife Julia Carey will have plenty to say about that.
