2018 Honda Odyssey Begins Production at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama Plant
Today, over 1,500 associates at the Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) plant in Lincoln celebrated the start of mass production of the 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan.
The all-new model will launch nationwide this spring, with HMA acting as the exclusive manufacturer of the family-friendly Odyssey, which has been the most popular minivan in America for the last seven years.
“This is a celebration for our entire Honda team of associates who have been committed to bringing an all-new, high tech, family-friendly Odyssey to our customers,” said HMA President Jeff Tomko. “I congratulate all of our associates for their commitment to quality for this new vehicle, which ushers in a new level of features and functionality with the goal of creating new value for our customers.”

In addition to exclusively manufacturing the Odyssey, HMA is also the sole production source of the Honda Pilot SUV and Ridgeline pickup truck, which was recently recognized as the 2017 North American Truck of the Year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. For Honda’s luxury brand Acura, HMA also builds the MDX luxury SUV and the V6 engines that power each vehicle.
The all-new 2018 model is the fourth generation of the Odyssey to be built in Alabama, and represents the second generation of the bestselling minivan to be designed and developed in the United States.
Honda has invested significantly in HMA to develop new technologies used in the construction of the 2018 Odyssey, including a new process for installing acoustic spray foam in 14 locations within the vehicle body, which ensures best-in-class cabin quietness in the new model.

The second generation Odyssey was the first vehicle HMA built when it started producing models in November 14, 2001. In the sixteen years since, HMA has built over 4 million vehicles and V6 engines at the facility. The 2018 Odyssey becomes fourth all-new model to roll off of the production line at HMA in the last five years.
