The News Wheel Editors: Must-Have Auto Features
Every driver has their favorite auto features, whether those features are present or absent from their current vehicle. We’ve gathered a few of our must-have auto features for your reading pleasure. What are your must-have vehicle features? Let us know in the comments below.
Rebecca BernardI must have Bluetooth/USB connectivity in my car. I do not do well with long drives because I get tired very easily, so quick access to music or audio books without taking my eyes off of the road is essential. I would also say cruise control is a must-have, but my current car doesn’t have it (hence how I know my next car has to have it). |
Caleb CookMy No. 1 must-have for a car is reliability. I want to get behind the wheel every day knowing that my vehicle won’t fall apart, leave me stranded, or drain my bank account with constant repairs. After that? Stick shift used to be a must-have for me, but that feature is a lot harder to come by these days. Good gas mileage looms large, along with a comfortable driver’s seat for my prematurely aging back. I also want Bluetooth connectivity or an auxiliary input for my phone so I’m not stuck listening to the radio or a scratched-up CD. |
Daniel SuscoI would have to say the top of my must-have list for the moment is an electric range (after driving a Volt around, I’m always sad to have to go back to an internal combustion car). Beyond that, I would say I really want to have heated seats, because in the frigid Ohio winters, sometimes there’s nothing like a nice, toasty butt. Finally, a feature that I have become surprisingly reliant on (again in the winter) is a heated steering wheel. After scraping the frost off the windows, there really is nothing better than the very steering wheel working to revive your frost-reddened fingers. |
Whitney BurchThough I’m still soaking as much life out of my ’10 Civic as possible, there are a couple of must-have features I want on my next ride. The first would have to be all-wheel drive. Ohio roads can get quite mushy and slick in the winter, and it’d be a small luxury not having to worry about arriving at work and other destinations in one piece. The second would have to be fuel efficiency. Whether it’s racking up miles on commutes or on weekend adventures, who doesn’t like saving a bit at the pump? |
