Ford Edge ST Camera Car Captures the Action for Pursuit Systems
One of the latest accolades for the all-new, high-performance Ford Edge ST: budding cinematographer. Ford has teamed with Pursuit Systems to equip a Ford Edge ST with a roof-mounted camera rig that enables it to film high-speed chases, action sequences, and all manner of shots for television commercials.
“Speed, acceleration, braking, handling, even roominess — Edge ST has it all,” said Mike Johnson, racer, stunt driver and Pursuit Systems president and CEO. “Our shoots often demand a lot of the equipment we use, and especially the vehicles. In every way, Edge ST measures up.”

To make the Ford Edge ST work for its purposes, Pursuit System needed to outfit it with a 1,000-pound Pursuit Arm, a roof-mounted camera crane that makes getting up close to the action easier for filmmaking. For this, Ford not only stabilized the roof to make it more capable of handling the weight, but it tweaked the Edge ST’s 2.7-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo, tacked on individual-wheel air suspension, and reworked the interior to accommodate bulky film equipment and allow camera operators to view the footage in real time. The Pursuit Systems Ford Edge ST is also wrapped matte black, which in addition to the purpose of ensuring that there’s no glare also looks pretty rad.
“We’ve never done anything like this before with an SUV because there’s never been an SUV like Edge ST in our showroom,” said Mark Grueber, Ford SUV marketing manager. “It has the performance chops and utility to keep up with fast-paced moviemaking.”
Ford and Pursuit Systems currently considering utilizing the Edge ST as a camera vehicle for future feature films.
