The rebadged Baojun 530 crossover that Chevrolet revealed at the 2018 Bogota International Motor Show in Colombia will be known as the Chevrolet Captiva Turbo in South America in 2019. Consumers in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile, and Bolivia will have the chance to experience the capable crossover that’s equipped with a 147 horsepower-rated turbo-charged 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired to either a Continuously Variable Transmission or six-speed manual transmission. Unfortunately, consumers in Argentina and Brazil probably won’t see the all-new Captiva available at their dealerships anytime soon.

“We are confident that the all-new Chevrolet Captiva Turbo will be a winning product as we write the brand’s success story”, said president of GM South America, West, Ernesto Ortiz, in a statement translated from Spanish by GM Authority. “We are the undisputed sales leader in the region and with this launch, we confirm once again that Chevrolet is betting on the Colombian market and on South America. The Chevrolet Captiva is a new truck that reflects the philosophy of a Chevrolet SUV. It will be a key piece in our long-term strategy for brand growth and market participation in Colombia.”

The all-new Captiva, which ranks between the Equinox and Trax in the Chevy lineup, sports LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, and available seating for seven passengers. The infotainment system boasts an eight-inch touch screen while a backup camera and rear and front parking/proximity sensors provide guidance during tricky reversing or parking maneuvers. Electronic stability control and traction control systems help deliver a stable, in-control driving performance.
