Compact disc (CD) players used to be a standard among in-vehicle features. These days, it’s actually quite rare to find a brand-new model equipped with a CD player.

Still, GM does still have a few new models that offer CD players as an available feature.

Current Tech Offerings: Technology Spotlights

The Chevrolet brand has the most vehicles that can still come equipped with a standard CD player. This includes the Chevrolet Impala, Express, Suburban, and Tahoe.

While the newest generation of Chevy Silverado trucks does not include a CD player, Chevrolet still sells some models from the previous generation. Those Silverado models do offer CD players as an optional choice.

Looking for Older Vehicle Features?: Why buy used?

Similarly, the previous generation of GMC Sierra trucks also can come equipped with a CD player. Other GMC models that can add a CD player to their infotainment suite include the GMC Savana, Yukon, and Yukon XL.

Cadillac only offers one model with a CD player option: the Cadillac Escalade. Both the Escalade and its Escalade ESV counterpart come standard with a CD player.

Finally, the Buick lineup currently has no vehicles that can come equipped with a CD player.

Of course, these models may not have CD players for much longer. New generations for models like the Cadillac Escalade are currently under development, and these new iterations will likely not possess CD players, even as an optional feature.

CD sales have been on the decline for years now. Back in 2004, 767 million CDs were sold. By 2017, that number had fallen to 87.7 million CDs.

If you’re a big fan of playing CDs in your car, you may want to look into purchasing per-owned instead of new. After all, the era of new cars coming equipped with a CD player is evidently coming to an end.
