Lincoln U.S. Sales Up Through Q2 2019
Lincoln Motor Company posted a Q2 result of 25,940 vehicles sold, down 6.7 percent from its performance in the second quarter of 2018. Despite the downturn, Lincoln’s impressive 11 percent gain in the first quarter was enough to keep the luxury brand in the black, resulting in to-date sales of 50,915 vehicles for a 1.3 percent increase.
Lincoln’s biggest Q2 success came from the newest addition to its lineup, the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. Sales of the Nautilus and outgoing MKX combined for a total of 8,187 vehicles, up 13 percent from Q2 2018 and enough to make it the most popular vehicle in Lincoln’s lineup by a wide margin. The Nautiulus also wrapped Q2 with an average transaction price of $44,300, up $3,700 per vehicle from the MKX in 2018. Through June, sales of the Nautilus and MKX total 16,022 vehicles, up 18.0 percent year-to-date.

Lincoln also got a boost from its MKT, the last vestige of its MK nomenclature, which was up 70.7 percent with 1,246 sold between April and June. MKT sales have doubled year-over-year, climbing from 1,242 in the first half of 2018 to 2,488 so far this year.
Sales of the Navigator and MKC were both down in Q2, dropping 13.2 percent at 4,387 sold and 19.4 percent at 5,956 sold, respectively. Through the first six months of 2019, Navigator sales are down just 2.8 percent at 8,856 delivered and MKC sales are down 4.4 percent at 11,743 percent delivered.
Through the first half, Lincoln SUV sales are up 8.3 percent at 39,109 delivered. The addition of the 2020 Lincoln Aviator to the lineup in the coming months will likely help bolster Lincoln’s Q3 SUV sales and overall sales.
The Lincoln Continental and Lincoln MKZ continue to decline with respective sales drops of 28.1 percent and 12.1 percent. While speculation holds that neither will live on past 2020, Lincoln has not commented on its plans for its two remaining sedans.
