Turns Out the 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring Gets 630 lb-ft of Torque

Back in November, Lincoln blew folks away by revealing that its 2020 Aviator Grand Touring — a plug-in hybrid marketed more for its performance than efficiency — would generate at least 400 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. In a pleasant surprise to one and all, it turns out that this was a pretty significant underestimate. It was revealed earlier this month that the 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring, arriving soon at dealers, will generate 494 combined horsepower and a best-in-class 630 lb-ft of torque combined.

“With Aviator Grand Touring, we are aiming to set the bar for luxury SUVs,” said John Davis, chief program engineer, The Lincoln Motor Company. “It offers a sanctuary-like cabin and signature drive feel that is uniquely Lincoln.”
Oh, and also? Four-hundred and ninety-four horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. Again: Wut.
The 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring pairs the 400-horsepower twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 offered on the Aviator with a 75-kilowatt electric motor and 13.6-kilowatt-hour battery pack. To further capitalize on all the powertrain’s performance capabilities, the Aviator Grand Touring is offered with three unique suspension systems. Adaptive Suspension can monitor the road 500 times a second and mitigate collision damage caused by running over potholes; Adaptive Suspension with Road Preview leverages a front-facing camera to adjust the suspension based on visible differences in road height between 2-8 inches; and Air Glide Suspension offers guided air springs, preset ride heights, and Dynamic Lower Entry that causes the Aviator Grand Touring to stoop to greet you.
