Hyundai Honored for Prioritizing Veterans
Underlining Hyundai’s efforts to recruit and hire veterans, the automaker was recently honored as a 2020 Military Friendly Employer by VIQTORY.
Hyundai was one of only 290 businesses to earn the honor from VIQTORY, a veteran-owned operation that helps military members transition to the civilian workforce.
Hyundai operates a variety of programs to attract, employ, and retain veterans, including one that allows Guard and Reserve members to return to their positions after being called up for active duty.
“Hyundai has a deep respect and appreciation for military veterans,” said Dave VandeLinde, Hyundai Motor America’s dealer service process director. “Hyundai is committed to working one-on-one with service members to assist them with the transition into the civilian workplace, and we will continue to invite veterans to share and participate in Hyundai’s growth.”
Why Buy Hyundai? Affordability, reliability, and efficiency you can count on
One person who has benefited from Hyundai’s efforts is Army veteran Sean Easton.
“Hyundai’s program is excellent and now that I’m in the automative industry, I can see the value my military education and training bring to the service center at a dealership,” said Easton, a Platinum Master Technician at Peacock Hyundai in Savannah, Georgia. “There are so many unknowns at the end of your duty, but having current Hyundai employees who were interested in my abilities helped a lot. Being able to get certified as a Hyundai technician while still on active duty was very important to me.”
Easton is one of about 1,000 veterans employed by Hyundai at its U.S. dealerships, corporate offices, and manufacturing facility. The automaker has added 700 veterans to its workforce since the beginning of 2013.
