BMW Launches U.S. First Publication of BMW Art Car Collection
BMW Group and publisher Hatje Cantz have launched the United States’ first comprehensive publication about the famous BMW Art Car Collection.
The BMW Art Car Collection is known around the world for its unique combination of fine art and innovative automobile technology, having earned the awe and appreciation of art and design enthusiasts as well as car and technology aficionados for over 40 years.
It originated when Hervé Poulain, a French race car driver and art buff, and Jochen Neerpasch, the former BMW Motorsport Director, asked artist Alexander Calder to design an automobile. The automobile he designed became the BMW 3.0 CSL that won the crowd at the 1975 Le Mans 24 Hours and eventually birthed the BMW Art Car Collection.
Since then, 17 international artists have contributed to the collection, including famous names such as Andy Warhol, Ernst Fuchs, and Jeff Koons.
The new publication offers a unique overview and insight into the collection’s history spanning across 200 pages and 148 images. Get it on Amazon for $45.00 starting June 2014!
