The Volkswagen Arteon made its debut in 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show as the successor to the CC sedan. A couple of years later, in April 2019, the Arteon arrived at U.S. dealerships where it saw decent sales in its first year. Now, VW is unveiling a sexy new wagon version of the Arteon sedan: the Arteon Shooting Brake.

A look at the Arteon Shooting Brake

Perhaps taking a page from the competition, VW is launching the new Arteon as a classy wagon, and is imbuing it with an astounding sense of style. This change sets it apart from the Arteon sedan, which was essentially a fancier take on Volkswagen’s own Passat. As the above rendering shows, this new Arteon strikes a uniquely eye-catching balance between being refined and imposing. The image also reveals that the Shooting Brake will feature plenty of cabin space, and will likely be available in a number of striking color options.

Very little is currently known about the new Arteon’s features and performance. As of early June, the only confirmed features are a newly-implemented infotainment system and semi-autonomous Travel Assist. However, recent sightings of test drives in Nürburgring give us some hints of what to expect. The Shooting Brake is now rumored to feature quad-exhausts that aid an updated 2.0-liter turbo engine in achieving powerful speeds. Other supposed features include a paddleshift DSG gearbox and four-wheel drive.

When the new Arteon Shooting Brake hits European showrooms in late 2020, it will be VW’s first proper sports wagon since the now decade-old V6-powered Passat R36. A lot has changed in 10 years, and it seems that VW is ready to enter the game once again. Stay tuned for more news on this sexy new wagon as it becomes available.
