Ford Volunteer Corps Feed Thousands of Hungry People
Last week, thousands of men, women, and children in need had full bellies thanks to the Ford Volunteer Corps, who dedicated a Ford Accelerated Action Day to providing the hungry with meals. Over 600 Ford employees cooked, packed, and delivered meals to those who needed them most alongside a multitude of non-profit organizations at shelters, food banks, and care centers.
“Ford and its employees are committed to building stronger communities and one of the most important ways we do that is by helping meet some of the most basic needs of our neighbors,” said Jim Vella, president of Ford Motor Company Fund and Community services. “We are very thankful for all we have and it just comes naturally to share some of our good fortune with the less fortunate in our communities.”
The non-profits that joined the Ford Volunteer Corps span the Detroit area and shared $85,000 in grants to purchase the food and materials needed to feed those in need. This day was a small part of the effort Ford and its employees put forth to provide for those who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. The American carmaker also partakes in the Holiday Meals on Wheels program, contributes to the Salvation Army’s Bed & Bread Club, and supports Gleaners Community Food Bank, promoting a culture of caring throughout the company.
