2015 GMC Sierra Wins Best Full-Size Pickup from KBB

GMC took home the prize for Best Full-Size Pickup Truck in the 2015 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Awards.

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab won its segment with an estimated five-year cost of $42,881. This includes not just the Sierra’s actual purchase price—KBB estimates fair purchase price for a base model with two-wheel drive to be around $26,979—but also its estimated five-year costs in terms of fuel, insurance, repairs and maintenance, and registration fees and taxes.

The Sierra managed to beat the Chevy Silverado by just shy of $600 over five years, but KBB says that the slightly lower cost doesn’t indicate a drop in quality between the Silverado and the Sierra. In fact, KBB says “the Sierra’s appeal is more upscale than that of the workaday Silverado.”

The Sierra’s long-term durability and its improved efficiency make it an ideal choice even for those who plan to push their full-size pickup to its limits.

Says KBB:

The Sierra is designed for work, with its Regular Cab capable of towing as much as 7,600 pounds with the V6 and 9,800 pounds with the 5.3-liter V8 when properly equipped. Features that make it easier to line up the truck with a trailer are available, and the CornerStep rear bumper helps when getting gear into and out of the bed. Yet despite the Sierra’s capable nature, the interior is one of the quietest in its class and is available with easy-to-use navigation and infotainment systems.
