Acura Donates Custom NSX to MusiCares Foundation Tribute to Tom Petty
Today Honda’s luxury brand Acura announced that it will be donating a custom 2017 Acura NSX to be auctioned at the 2017 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute honoring rock and roll legend Tom Petty.
The proceeds from the supercar’s auction will go to the MusiCares charity, which provides people in the music industry with assistance in times of need:
“Acura is proud to support members of the music community in need through MusiCares, the charity established by The Recording Academy in 1989 as a safety net for the industry,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura. “We sincerely hope the NSX will captivate attendees at the MusiCares auction, inspire lively bidding, and help provide vital assistance to the music community.”
The custom, one-of-a-kind MusiCares NSX was designed exclusively for the occasion by NSX Lead Exterior Designer Michelle Christensen, and features a Berlina Black exterior with Ebony interior and Semi-Aniline Full Leather Power Seats. And of course, since it’s a MusiCares car, the custom ride features premium options like the Technology Package equipped with ELS Studio Premium Audio, which includes a 9-speaker, 580 watt ELS Studio Premium Audio system that tuned especially for the NSX by Grammy-winning recording engineer Elliot Scheiner. A Carbon Fiber Interior Sport Package including carbon fiber steering wheel and meter housing are among the other plush accouterments.
Custom modifications made to the NSX include black carbon ceramic brakes with a red NSX logo detail, black Signature Y-Spoke wheels with red pocket accents, a red-tinted carbon fiber engine cover, and red accents on the carbon fiber front spoiler, lower diffuser, and rocker panels. Smoke-tinted taillights, NSX embossed headrests, and custom red interior stitching on seats, floor mats, and the center console complete the cool look of the MusiCares NSX.
