BMW Group Global Sales Top 1 Million Through June
BMW has held down the title of the world’s best-selling luxury car brand for nine straight years despite fierce competition from Audi and Mercedes. Since BMW is the kind not to settle for anything less than total victory, they’re pushing for a monumental decade of dominance in 2014, and with BMW Group global sales topping one million vehicles in the first half of the year, it’s safe to say that they are well on their way.
“This is the first time we’ve sold more than a million cars in the first half of the year and underscores the strength of our premium brands within the BMW Group,” said Ian Robertson, Member of the BMW AG Board of Management, Sales and Marketing BMW. “June is the latest in a long line of record months and the figures confirm we’re on the right track to achieve our target of delivering more than 2 million vehicles in 2014. We aim to continue our sales growth in the second half of the year, when exciting new vehicles like the BMW X4 and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will come onto the market.”
886,347 of the 1,020,211 vehicles sold of BMW badged vehicles, putting the luxury brand well on pace for a record-breaking year. BMW brand global sales in June were up 7.3 percent year-over-year with 164,214 units sold.
Despite MINI being down 11.4 percent globally, the 131,896 units sold worldwide helped make the one million model mark a reality.
BMW Group, along the way to one million models sold in six months, saw growth in the Asian, European, and American markets. Sales in Asia were up 18.3 percent in the first six months; European sales were up 2.1 percent; and American sales are up 3.4 percent.
