Car Fires Sweep Western Sweden

Sweden car firesWhen it’s back-to-school time in the United States, parents mob the stores for supplies while the kids watch in sullen silence. Apparently, a group of youths in the western Sweden city of Gothenburg wanted to express their rage in a more outward way. A wave of vehicle arson swept through the city last week, with about 80 cars burned and 40 others vandalized, according to CNN.

Hans Lippens, the police spokesman for the western region of Sweden, told the news channel that it’s not that uncommon for attacks like this in the days leading up to the first day of school. However, he did acknowledge that the scale of damage done by the car fires really isn’t typical.
