Christmas Has Come in July: The 2016 MX-5s Have Arrived
On June 30th, Mazda released a video of the very first shipment of the highly-anticipated and multi-awarded 2016 MX-5 arriving in California, and it’s like watching the outbound end of Santa’s grown-up workshop:
We open with multiple shots of the MX-5s on the shipping freighter (awesomely named the Phoenix Leader), snuggled under their protective blankets while visions of highways dance in their sleeping heads:
Then, after a gentle awakening of the MX-5s by an elf in a dew rag, the delivery crew rolls down the slowest-moving giant ramp in history and out rolls the very first MX-5. Of course, it’s red:
Since there hasn’t only been one exceptionally good little boy or girl in America, it is quickly followed by many, many more. To protect the anonymity of the elves, Mazda tastefully blurred out their faces (as if anyone was going to be looking at the driver).
Oh boy, were there a lot of them, and while some were black, gray, or white, the overwhelming majority were sportscar Soul Red. Really, the smiley-face grill of the fresh, eager-faced MX-5s say it all.
Following port proccessing procedures in the next several weeks, the MX-5s will be delivered to dealerships, who will then send them on to good little boys and girls.
Merry Christmas, and to all a good night!
