Custom 2014 Ford Mustang GT from Need for Speed to Be Auctioned
At the April 12 Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auto auction, Ford will auction off a custom 2014 Ford Mustang GT from Need for Speed, the upcoming film starring Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice). The Mustang, which can be seen in the film when it hits theaters on March 14, will be offered to bidders at no reserve; proceeds will benefit the Henry Ford Health System.
The custom 2014 Ford Mustang GT from Need for Speed stands as just another entry in a long line of pony cars featured on the big screen. www.MustangIMDB.com has, to date, counted 3,334 films and television shows that feature a Mustang in a prominent role. While we’re not sure whether Need for Speed will be closer to Bullitt or bullsh…well, we’ll likely just wait and see what’s in store for us on March 14.
“Mustang was cast in a leading role of the movie with screen time equal to many of the actors,” said Steve Ling, North America car marketing manager for Ford, in a press release. “Director Scott Waugh challenged our team to give this central character enough personality and American masculinity to take on some of the world’s most exotic cars, just like in the popular Electronic Arts video game that inspired the movie.
“The new owner of this particular Mustang will take home a rare vehicle, and their bid will increase access to critical health care services.”
The Henry Ford Health System was founded in 1915 and provides health insurance and healthcare delivery at numerous locations throughout the state of Michigan.
Need for Speed starts next Friday, so we want to get your predictions: do you think it’ll be an instant automotive classic or a box office bomb?
