GM Boasts Most Affordable Cars with Over 400 Horsepower
General Motors is all over a new list from AutoGuide that ranks the ten cheapest vehicles with 400 or more ponies. With five entries in total, GM has more powerful cars and trucks on the list than any other automaker.
Of the five GM models, four of them are Chevys, beginning with the new 455 hp Corvette, that finished tenth with a price tag of $56,395.
In sixth place, the $48,040 Chevy SS sedan makes a name for itself, thanks to its 415 hp 6.2-liter V8 engine. The Chevy Silverado 1500 Double Cab Standard Box LTZ Z71 took bronze, finishing third on the strength of its $44,180 price and 420 horsepower.
Unsurprisingly, the highest ranked Chevrolet is the brand new 2016 Chevy Camaro SS, which placed second overall, thanks to its new 455 hp 6.2-liter V8, the most powerful engine ever placed in a Camaro SS.
The new Camaro is bested only by its old rival, the Ford Mustang GT, which finished first in the rankings. Of course, it should be noted that the new Camaro SS is more powerful than the Mustang GT (455 hp vs 435 hp), but the Mustang’s MSRP is about $5,000 lower ($32,300 vs $37,295).
In addition to the four Chevrolet models featured on the list, the GMC Sierra 1500 Double Cab, Standard Box SLT 2WD ($44,590) finished in fifth.
