GM Canada Sales Up 12% in August
Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, and Buick sales in Canada reached a combined total of 24,653 units in August, resulting in a 12% year-over-year increase for GM Canada and bringing its to-date sales total up 6% from the first eight months of 2014.
“Customer demand for our Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac cars and trucks continues to grow in the Canadian marketplace with GMC and Cadillac experiencing the best August sales in their history,” said John Roth, vice president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada.
Chevrolet sales totaled 13,847 vehicles, the highest August total for the brand since 2011. Sales of the Malibu were up 34%, Equinox was up 23%, Traverse was up 33%, and Suburban was up 39%.
GMC moved more vehicles last month than it has in any previous August with 8,258 trucks and SUVs sold. Acadia was up 24%, and combined pickup sales were up 28%.
Cadillac also had a record month with 52% year-over-year growth. Cadillac sold 1,240 vehicles last month, helped by double digit sales growth for the ATS (up 74%), XTS (up 85%), SRX (up 63%), and Escalade (up 54%).
Buick sales were down, but sales of the LaCrosse were up 42%.
To date, GM Canada’s sales total 174,704 vehicles.
