GM Files for “Sierra Elevation” Trademark
Earlier this week on August 4th, General Motors filed a trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office under the Goods and Services category of “motor land vehicles…” for the term “Sierra Elevation.” We’re not entirely surprised, as the American auto giant previously filed for the term “Elevation” sans “Sierra” back in April.
The Sierra Elevation trademark application’s serial number is 86356469 and is likely meant for GMC, given the Sierra half of its name. Experts hope that this means we can expect an offroad-variant of the Sierra pickup, to compete with the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, though nothing has been confirmed at all. Whatever its specific role in the lineup, it is likely to be some kind of variant of the Sierra pickup, which leads us to wonder if the Silverado (the Sierra’s sibling truck) will get a similar treatment.
Keep your eyes peeled for more mentions of the Sierra Elevation, and we’ll be sure to update you as we do the same.
Thanks to GM Authority for the heads up!
