Heisman Trust and Nissan Habitat for Humanity Collaboration Provides Homes for Families
Nissan and Heisman Trophy winners came together last weekend to help raise the walls of a new Habitat for Humanity home in south Dallas.
It marked the first day of Habitat for Humanity’s 2014 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, which at completion will see 30 new houses raised in the Dallas area.
Alongside Nissan employees and a Habitat for Humanity construction crew, six former Heisman Trophy winners and new home owner Jessica Hunter got to work on the house. Hunter is a loss mitigation specialist working at Citigroup in Dallas as well as a mom to three children—ages four, seven, and nine.
“My children actually want a house—our own house,” she said. “We have been staying with grandparents for a while. So it will be a dream come true for us. This is my first home. I really appreciate it, being able to build it, putting my hard work into it as well.”
This isn’t the first time Nissan and Heisman Trust have collaborated to build homes. Last year, both companies worked together to build a home in the New Orleans area with the goal of helping improve the communities where its employees and customers live. We can likely expect many more collaborations to come in the future.
