Honda Performance Parts Available For Everyone
If you’ve always wanted to drive like Vin Diesel in The Fast & the Furious, look no further than Honda. With the introduction of tuner kits and other high-performance parts to the everyday person, Honda Performance Development, the carmakers’ racing branch, has made it possible to be just like Mr. Diesel (minus the suave style; that you will have to cultivate entirely on your own).
With strong Ohio connections, the Honda parts procurement center in Troy, Ohio will be in charge of distributing the parts to the masses, establishing new suppliers, and securing new parts. The first Honda performance parts will be for the two-seater Honda CR-Z sports hybrid coupe, which launched in 2010.
The CR-Z gets 130 horsepower from a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine, making its performance a little lackluster compared to what performance-enthusiast consumers truly want. Honda looks to fix this with the new “super-charger” kit, which can only be applied to manual transmission CR-Zs, allowing the model to be more street ready than ever before.
Fourteen year Honda Ohio employee Philip LaPointe told Dayton Daily News that the plan is to begin creating performance parts for the Civic soon. The automaker, however, wants to make sure everything is done to perfection.
“When we go to the Civic, we don’t want to have any missteps,” LaPointe said.
With Honda performance parts available now, who knows—maybe you’ll be the next Vin Diesel! Well, hopefully without the awkward b-boy phase.
