Honda’s Erik Berkman Blogs about SAE World Congress & Exhibition
Honda is the host company for this year’s SAE World Congress & Exhibition, which will run from April 21st through the 23rd in Detroit, Michigan. In the lead-up to the big event, executive vice president of Honda North America and general chairman of this year’s World Congress, Erik Berkman, will be sharing a series of blog posts.
“We are now in an age where innovations in communications, electronics, materials, environmental controls and sensing technologies are creating exciting new opportunities, as well as vexing new challenges for the vehicles we create and the factories where they are built,” Berkman wrote in his first post.
“The SAE World Congress remains the place where the great minds of our industry come together to share, debate, analyze and celebrate these issues. This will lead to better engineering solutions for our customers. It also enables a level of collaboration that creates professional development opportunities for our industry’s ‘next generation.’”
Berkman also wrote about his excitement for the “special efforts” the SAE World Congress would be making to help young engineers envision their futures, including seminars and white papers meant to provide useful insights, small-group roundtable discussions, and “speed-mentoring” sessions for young engineers to interact with veteran industry players.
“In short,” Berkman summarized, “at the 2015 SAE World Congress, we will be developing careers as well as vehicles. And this makes me proud to be a member of SAE and to chair this year’s event.”
