We now know what the first Infiniti built in China will be: a long wheelbase version of the Q50 sedan. Today, Infiniti China gave us our first look at the Q50L ahead of its world debut at the 2014 Chengdu Auto Show, which begins on August 29 and runs through September 7.
According to the translation of the press release, the Infiniti Q50L will carry over all the best features of the Q50 and add about 2 inches in both overall length and wheelbase, bringing those totals up to 191 inches and 114 inches, respectively.
The Infiniti Q50L will be powered by the 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, mated to a seven-speed automatic with manual shift mode, and will come with by-wire Direct Adaptive Steering, Active Lane Control (reminder: don’t be an idiot and try to let your car drive itself), Infiniti InTouch HCI system, Bose® 14-speaker Studio on Wheels® sound system, anti-glare mirrors, and ambient lighting.
The Q50L will be manufactured at the Xiangyang factory in Hubei. The regular-wheelbase Q50 will remain a Japanese import.
While there are no plans to bring the Infiniti Q50L stateside, we can still expect the 2015 Q70L, which was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show after only previously being available in China. As such, it’s reasonable to believe that the Q50L will wind up stateside before too long, but we won’t go speculating about that just yet. Until that time, enjoy some sweet images!
