Jenson Button Contender for Open Top Gear Host Position
Jenson Button doesn’t just have a pretty face, a stellar racing career, and a weird name. He also might have a position as the newest host of Top Gear.
Ever sine Jeremy Clarkson’s dustup with one of the show’s producers made the news, sufficiently ending his tenure on the British car show—and causing Richard Hammond and James May to leave, too—rumors have been flying left and right over who will replace the trio of presenters.
While we do know that Chris Evans from BBC Radio 2 (not Captain America, sorry, ladies) will be one of the new hosts, the other two spots are still wide open. So far, rumors have centered on Jodie Kidd, Phillip Glenister, and Guy Martin. But now, Jenson Button’s name has entered the mill.
Button is reportedly friends with Evans and has also been on Top Gear twice, making the Formula One driver a great candidate. Currently, Button’s future in F1 is far from being certain with the second year of his McLaren contract an option. Both Kevin Magnussen and GP2 championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne are waiting in McLaren’s wings, making Button an unlikely candidate.
If Jenson Button does have a future with Top Gear, he’s got some pretty big shoes to fill.
