Maria Sharapova Joyrides in 918 Spyder, Wins Third Porsche Grand Prix
The three-time Porsche Grand Prix winner took a spin in an $845,000 Porsche 918 Spyder with F1's Mark Webber.
Prior to winning her third-straight Porsche Grand Prix title on Sunday, Maria Sharapova decided to make herself feel like a million bucks by riding around in a Porsche worth just shy of a million bucks.
Sharapova and Formula One’s Mark Webber took a spin around Stuttgart in a Porsche 918 Spyder the day before her victory in the final. Based on the tennis champion’s almost giddy reaction, it’s safe to say she was excited, if not perhaps a little nervous. Sharapova was announced as a brand ambassador for the Porsche brand a little more than a year ago.

“It was very exciting for me. You feel like you’re in a real sports car,” Sharapova told reporters, who didn’t feel the need to point out that, yes, she had actually been in a real sports car. “I love the design of the car, I always have.”

Addressing whether or not she planned on purchasing a Porsche 918 Spyder for herself, the 27-year-old superstar said it would be “a little above my price range, but it’s a sweet car.”

It’s hard to imagine that Maria will be wanting for Porsche goodness any time soon, though: for her victory in the Porsche Grand Prix, she took home a lovely white 911 S Cabriolet.
