Geez, Mazda is having one seriously critically-acclaimed year, thanks to its newly designed KODO-Soul of Motion lineup.
This fact is never more true than in the cases of the 2016 MX-5 Miata and the 2016 Mazda3, as Car and Driver has joined the award-bestowing crowd by naming the MX-5 and Mazda3 to its 10Best award list. This makes Mazda the only automaker to have taken two spots on the list each year for the last three years.
The 10Best list is a competitive award event, since Car and Driver includes all vehicles available new now, rather than just those that are all-new or significantly redesigned, making the choosing pool much larger.
Both the Mazda3 and the MX-5 have garnered many 10Best awards in the history of their nameplates, with the Mazda3 winning six awards since its start in 2004, and the MX-5 has won a whopping 14 since its introduction in 1990.
Mazda, of course, is thrilled. “We’re honored to have two vehicles on this year’s 10Best list with Mazda3 and MX-5, which is a testament to our philosophy that driving should be an enjoyable, fulfilling experience rather than simply a necessity,” said Robert Davis, senior VP of US operations, Mazda North American Operations.
