Pee-wee Herman Drives a Fiat 600 in Upcoming ‘Big Holiday’ Movie
Few characters from our childhood are as memorable–in both good and bad ways–as Paul Reuben’s eccentric Pee-wee Herman. The bow tie-touting man-child had a stand-up show, multiple movies, and an acclaimed television show before being retired as 1980s nostalgia.
After a long hiatus in the 1990s and 2000–and proving in 2011 on Broadway that Pee-wee is still as lovable as ever–the wacky character is back for a brand new adventure.
Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, a Netflix original movie debuting in March, sends the titular character on a riotous cross-country road trip to get out of his comfort zone and do something “cool.”

In the upcoming film, which is directed by John Lee and produced by Judd Apatow, Pee-wee Herman’s car of choice is a first-generation, late 50s/early 60s Fiat 600–many people pegging it at as a 1960 Fiat 600D.
Of course, judging by the rest of the trailer, it’s unlikely this little blue car will stay around for most of the movie. Once the road trip takes some unexpected turns–like “hitchhiking” bank robbers–things seem to spiral out of control rather quickly for poor Pee-wee.
The car is a great choice for the character, exuding quirky charm but still being practical for someone who plays things safe–as older Pee-wee Herman does.
Check out the long-awaited return of Pee-wee on Netflix when Pee-wee’s Big Holiday arrives on March 18th.
