According to a report from Tuesday gleaned from two sources close to GM, Buick may move to importing most of its US-sold vehicles from Europe and China as soon as 2017. The report states that only the Enclave and LaCrosse are expected to be built in North America as of 2017, as production of the Verano is slated to get underway in China in late 2016 and the Regal is set to be built in either China or Europe by 2017.
The Cascada convertible, which is set to arrive in the United States next year, will also be imported from Europe. Buick might also be importing the Opel ADAM from Europe sometime in the near future, if reports hold. Production of the Encore, which is currently built in Korea, will likely also be transitioned to China in the near future.
When reached for comment, a Buick spokesman told Reuters, “We do not comment on future product speculation.”
