Reuss: “We’ve Certainly Thought About” CT6-V Variant

Cadillac was a major point of focus at the 2015 New York International Auto Show when the cover was finally pulled back on the all-new 2016 CT6. Announced with a number of powertrain options—including a 3.0-liter Twin Turbo V6, a 3.6-liter V6, and a possible hybrid setup—many have mused whether Cadillac plans to give the new flagship the V-Series treatment.

Good news: it certainly sounds like a CT6-V could be coming somewhere down the pipeline.

General Motors Executive Vice President Mark Reuss told Autoblog that the CT6 architecture is such that it should be easy to produce a high-power V-Series version. He even went so far as to say that the folks at GM have considered the possibility of making it happen already. The questions in play here, it appears, are why and whom?

“The question is who’s going to buy the CT6? What kind of person? And do we need a V-Series off of that is the question we haven’t answered yet.”

So the questions here are: 1) who would buy it 2) what kind of person would buy it (a bit redundant) and 3) do we need it.

If I may, I’d like to attempt to posit the correct answers to these particular questions. In that same order:

1. Literally everyone.
2. A person who loves fast cars (see above).
3. Right now, preferably.

Do with this information what you will, Mr. Reuss (especially if “what you will” is “build us a CT6-V).

Cadillac recently revealed the 2016 CTS-V and ATS-V at the end of 2014. Both are expected to arrive sometime later this year.
