Chevrolet is bringing a three-row Blazer model to the Chinese market. This new “mid-large” SUV will debut later this week at the 2019 Chevrolet Gala Night, held in the city of Hefei.
The Blazer sold in the U.S. is a five-seat, two-row model. However, the overseas version will feature seven seats, a flexible configuration Chevy says is designed to appeal to families in the brand’s second-largest market.
Per GM Authority, this new Blazer is likely to carry a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that makes 233 horsepower and comes paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The Blazer’s platform will be based on the 2018 Chevrolet FNR-CarryAll Concept, which was shown last year in China. Its looks will largely mirror the U.S. five-seater, except with a longer build and extended lines to accommodate a third row. This Blazer model will be available in two trims: RS and Redline.
In comparison to U.S. models, the Chinese Blazer will be several inches shorter than the Traverse and a bit longer than the GMC Acadia. In Chevrolet’s China lineup, this seven-seat model will take its place as the largest SUV. It will join the midsize Equinox, the compact Trailblazer, and the small Tracker.
The debut of the new Blazer follows a recent announcement that GM will also offer a Buick Enclave specially designed for China. Like the Blazer, the Chinese Enclave will seat seven passengers and be powered by a 233-horsepower engine. It’s expected to be a bit smaller than the Enclave sold in the U.S.
