Shelby Building 50 Baja 700 Supertrucks

We’ve got a little while longer to wait until we get the next-gen Ford F-150 Raptor, but that doesn’t mean there’s any reason to put the 2011-2014 Raptor out to pasture just yet. In fact, if you’re looking for a stop-gap truck to tide you over until the new Raptor is uncaged, then you’ll want to look no further than the Shelby Baja 700.

With the Baja 700, Shelby takes the already-off-road-capable F-150 Raptor and adds a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger system—including heat exchanger, injectors, and throttle body—which bumps the stock 6.2-liter V8’s output from 411 horsepower to 700 horsepower. Unofficial projections have the 2017 F-150 Raptor producing upwards of 450 horsepower.

The Shelby Baja 700 package also includes a Borla exhaust, 3-inch King coil overs and bypass rear shocks, Rogue Racing upper and lower control arms, competition-graded suspension, and 18×9 Custom Fuel wheels in matte black and wrapped in BFGoodrich K02 tires.

Aesthetically, the Baja 700 gets a sharp skid plate, Shelby Baja 700 badging on the tailgate and fender vent, a stripe package, and an interior package that includes Katzkin custom interior, custom floor mats, and numbered plates for the dash and engine.

Prices start at $45,000 for the upgrades alone—not including optional LED lights and AMP electric side steps among other additional features—so it’s likely the best course of action for those already in possession of a previous-gen Raptor. If not—unless you’re drawn in by the fact that only 50 will be made—you may just be better off waiting for the new one.
