Kia has renewed its focus on safety, as evidenced by the 2014 Kia Sorento, which is picking up great safety ratings right and left right now. The Sorento recently received the NHTSA’s 5-Star Overall Score, the highest score that the NHTSA awards. The Sorento also picked up a Top Safety Pick nod from the IIHS, further cementing the Sorento as a top choice for families.
Orth Hendrick, executive direct of product planning for KMA, celebrated the Sorento’s success. “Built on an all-new platform, the redesigned Sorento utilizes Kia’s advanced safety equipment and technologies to provide a high level of occupant protection for drivers and their families as measured by the U.S. government.” Hendrick also stated that the NHTSA rating “makes the Sorento an even stronger contender within its segment while underscoring Kia’s overall commitment to delivering safety and exceptional value to our customers.”
While the 2014 Kia Sorento may still look largely the same on the exterior, it’s the interior, the capability, and what’s under the hood that’s undergone such a change. The car sits on an entirely new chassis, runs on an improved suspension system—which seeks to reduce noise and vibrations—and its V6 engine maxes out at 290 horsepower. It’s nice to know that this car not only provides these big powerful numbers, but also keeps your family safe and sound inside.
