Fans of the new 2019 Cadillac CT6-V might be familiar with its 4.2-liter Twin-Turbo V8 Blackwing engine. It dishes out an impressive 550 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, which should satisfy speed demons.
Cadillac’s newest V8 version
Even though Cadillac has been churning out V8 engines for more than a century, the Blackwing is a bit more unique. For starters, each engine is painstakingly handcrafted (and signed) by one of the Bowling Green factory’s technicians. It’s also the first DOHC V8 type of engine the brand has produced since the Northstar V8.

Why Blackwing?
Per Cadillac Society contributor Alex Luft, the Blackwing name stems from the merlette black bird featured on Cadillac’s original logo. Merlettes were a type of duck commonly featured on family crests since the Crusading era. The birds usually appeared in groups of three to symbolize both the Holy Trinity.

The Blackwing engine isn’t the only thing to love about the new 2019 CT6-V, however. The model boasts smooth gear shifting and excellent response for a more enjoyable drive, thanks to a 10-speed transmission. A customized Brembo front brake system means enhanced brake performance no matter how slick the roads get. And Magnetic Ride Control improves the suspension and maneuverability of the car to elevate the ride quality.
Though Cadillac has confirmed that the CT6-V has already sold out in the U.S., you can still enjoy the similar CT6 which generates 404 horsepower. This model can go from 0-60 mph in just 5.3 seconds.
