Research suggests that the Subaru Eyesight system significantly reduces vehicle accients
Subaru’s innovative EyeSight technology, available on the Forester, Impreza, Legacy, Outback, WRX, and Crosstrek here in the United States, is aimed at preventing accidents on the road. The technology includes systems like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure & Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Pre-Collision Throttle Management. In essence, the technology acts as an extra set of eyes on the road—one that won’t be distracted by the radio, the cell phone, or the kids in the backseat.

It’s no surprise then that Subaru vehicles equipped with EyeSight are involved in fewer accidents than those without. But what might be surprising is how much of an impact EyeSight makes.
EyeSight is available on vehicles such as the 2016 Outback
The Institute for Traffic Accident Research and Data Analysis (ITARDA) in Japan recently conducted a study to determine just how much of a difference EyeSight can be on the road. According to the results, EyeSight-equipped Subaru models saw an 80% decrease in the number of rear-end collisions with other vehicles, as well as a 50% dip in pedestrian-related accidents. Overall, ITARDA observed a 50% decrease in driver accidents.
While EyeSight is not standard on every model, it is available on all US models save for the BRZ at an extra cost. Based on these results, it seems like a good call to spend a little more money on EyeSight to save something more important down the road.
