Every year, automotive enthusiasts gather in Savannah, Georgia, to see exciting new vehicles from a variety of European automakers. For 2019, Volkswagen showcased seven inspiring concepts at SOWO: The European Experience in mid-May. From a trail-ready Tiguan to a party-themed Golf GTI, VW brought something for everyone at the event.
Volkswagen… Truck? The VW Tarok pickup made an appearance in New York
One of the top attention-getters at SOWO was the Golf GTI Rabbit Confetti concept, which has a bright blue exterior paint covered in multicolored, rabbit-shaped confetti designs. The unique vehicle also features 19-inch Rotiform RSE wheels with customized rabbit Rotiform Aerodisk wheel covers. Another modified Golf at SOWO was the Alltrack Combi concept, which is the 2019 Alltrack SEL with some components from other VW vehicles, including a front bumper from the Golf GTE, a rear spoiler from the Golf GTI Rabbit Edition, and a Golf GTD short shifter.
Just Like New: Volkswagen restored “Annie,” the 1967 Beetle with 350,000 miles
The Tiguan was not left out of the concept lineup at SOWO, with the Adventure concept making an appearance at the event. Covered in a topographic-themed wrap and equipped with all-terrain tires and a Thule Hull-a-Port kayak carrier, this modified Tiguan is all about going off the beaten path. Another off-road vehicle at SOWO was the Atlas Basecamp concept. Designed with endurance mountain biking in mind, the Atlas Basecamp features all-terrain tires, a set of fifteen52 Traverse MX Concept wheels, an H&R lift kit, a Front Runner Slimline II roof rack system with bike holders, and off-road LED light bars.
The all-new Arteon couldn’t be left out of this enthusiast event, with the R-Line SEMA concept making an appearance. The Pure White-coated exterior is covered by XPEL STEALTH satin paint protection film while the entire vehicle sits on a set of 21-inch Vossen Forged M-X4T wheels. After making its debut at SEMA, it was upgraded to include a custom valence kit and aluminum floor mats by Luft Technik as well as a 380mm front big brake kit from Forge Motorsport.
These innovative Volkswagen concepts will be making appearances at future festivals, so don’t be too sad if you missed them in Georgia. Next on the docket is the ARX rally cross event in Illinois, followed by Waterfest, Wolfsgart, VAG Fair, SoCal Big Euro, Pacific Waterland, and ARX (Round #5 in Austin, Texas).
