These days, all automakers offer a touch-screen infotainment system that allows you to connect your phone to your car so you can stay connected safely on the road. For Chevrolet, that touch-screen technology is called MyLink. But what is Chevy MyLink, and what is included?

All about Chevy’s infotainment system

Chevrolet started offering MyLink in 2012, and today its updated Infotainment 3 system is available on most Chevy vehicles. The latest additions are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. These interfaces allow you to display certain apps right from your smartphone screen to your car’s touch screen, so it mirrors the layout you’re most familiar with.

You can store your favorite radio stations for easier access at the touch of a button, whether your favorite is on FM or SiriusXM. The home screen is easily customizable, and you can download additional apps if you’re a subscriber to Chevy’s 4G LTE Wi-Fi service. You can also use voice commands using the Press to Talk button on your car’s steering wheel so you can make calls or change radio stations without taking your hands off the wheel.

An optional built-in navigation system is easily accessible from MyLink’s home screen. This technology offers several different map views and the choice between voice guidance and map-only. You can save specific destinations if you travel to the same places so you don’t have to hunt for an address every time. If your current route is experiencing a delay, the system will offer an alternative route if one is available.

Personalization

If you have multiple drivers of the same car, the Infotainment 3 Plus and Premium systems allow you to set up different profiles so you don’t have to suffer through your spouse’s sports radio or your kid’s country music station on your drive.

You can also get Chevy’s Teen Driver technology through MyLink. This helps you teach safe driving habits to new drivers and monitor them while they get used to life behind the wheel. You can limit music volume, set maximum speeds, and mute audio if the front-seat occupants are not wearing their seatbelts. Teen Driver will also send report cards that tell you if certain safety features were triggered.
