[VIDEO] Modified Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Completes 9-Second Quarter Mile
When Cadillac released the CTS-V Coupe, it said the machine could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in the low-4-second range, but one customized version of this Caddy has just set the quarter-mile record for a non-nitrous-assisted CTS-V.
In a video uploaded by YouTube user BigKleib34, a modified CTS-V Coupe from Rick Crawford Racing can be seen pulling a wheelie before posting a 9.36-second quarter mile. While there are four other nitrous-boosted CTS-V cars that have run quicker times in the quarter mile, that 9.36 run is the fastest ever by a supercharger-only CTS-V.
Auto Evolution points out that while this CTS-V Coupe didn’t use nitrous, it still featured a few custom modifications that aided in its record setting lap time, such as a 2.38 upper blower pulley, a 8.66 lower blower pulley, and an Aldowelds trunk-mounted ice tank. In addition, the heavy factory seats in this Caddy were removed and replaced with lighter bucket seats.
Regardless of the modifications that were made to the CTS-V Coupe, it was still able cover 1,320 feet quicker than any other CTS-V without nitrous. The Cadillac’s owner is also probably happy that his machine didn’t break after posting those quick lap times, which is exactly what happened to the Fireball Edition 2016 Camaro SS back in January. This Cadillac CTS-V Coupe also ran a faster quarter mile than a Dodge Challenger Hellcat did last year using nitrous.
This CTS-V Coupe certainly isn’t just a car for an older generation, which is still the perception many people have when they think about or hear the word Cadillac.
