The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT is a two-door performance coupe that carries a starting MSRP of $111,200. This German sports car is the model that replaced the popular Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which was the first Mercedes vehicle that was designed by the automaker’s AMG high-performance division. In fact, the Mercedes-AMG GT was so well received in its first year that Motor Trend gave the GT S coupe its 2015 Best Driver’s Car award. The new Mercedes-AMG GT competes with the Audi R8 V10, Porsche 911 Carrera S, and the Chevy Corvette Z06.

What’s New for the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT?
A new base model is being introduced for the 2017 model year that comes with the same twin-turbo V8 motor as the GT S trim, but the entry-level model has been tuned down to just 456 horsepower. However, this reduction in power has allowed the automaker to price the base model at approximately $20,000 less than what it asked for the most affordable version of the AMG coupe it offered a year ago. The higher-level Mercedes AMG-GT S further distinguishes itself from the base model thanks to Nappa leather, red brake calipers, an AMG adaptive exhaust, and a Burmester premium sound system.

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT features a one-of-a-kind exterior design that is perhaps highlighted by its enormous grille and its extended hood, which hints at the enormous levels of power that lie just beneath. In addition, this Mercedes coupe also comes standard with a distinctive AMG exhaust system and full LED lighting all the way around the car, as well as eye-catching 19-inch AMG wheels. Exterior color options include Magnetite Black Metallic, AMG Solarbeam Yellow Metallic, and Iridium Silver Metallic.

2017 Mercedes-AMG GT Performance
As previously mentioned, the new entry-level Mercedes-AMG GT comes standard with a handcrafted 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine that cranks out 446 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. This powerful engine is matched with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which allows the coupe to zip from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. If that somehow is not enough power, buyers can look towards the GT S model that comes with the same 4.0-liter biturbo V8, but this tuned-up version of the motor packs 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. These additional ponies allow the Mercedes-AMG GT S to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.7 seconds.
