2018 Chevrolet Colorado Overview

Built as a work horse ready to tackle any job, the Chevrolet Colorado is a strong contender in the mid-size pickup segment. The 2018 Colorado takes the crown for best-in-class towing with 369 lb-ft of torque and a towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds. Its power doesn’t take away from its efficiency, though. In fact, the Colorado earns another best-in-class title for fuel efficiency with up to 30 mpg highway.

The 2018 Chevrolet Colorado is available in four trims: WT, LT, Z71, and ZR2. Drivers can choose between 2WD and 4WD, Extended Cab and Crew Cab, and a Long Box or a Short Box.

What’s New for the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado?

Active Tow is being introduced to the Chevrolet Colorado nameplate this year. This feature helps keep the truck and its attached trailer aligned when the vehicle is backing up. The Colorado is also upgrading its outward appearance by adding heated outside mirrors and two new exterior colors.

In addition to the refreshing additions to the Colorado’s exterior (heated outside mirrors and new exterior colors), you can also customize this mid-size truck to your needs. There are three trim levels to choose from, which determine your wheel base, wheel style, and your tires. From there, you can choose between two bed lengths and two box lengths for a truck that’s truly yours.

The 2018 Chevrolet Colorado is available in nine exterior colors: Kinetic Blue Metallic, Red Hot, Satin Steel Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic, Summit White, Black, Deepwood Green Metallic, Graphite Metallic, and Cajun Red Tintcoat.

2018 Chevrolet Colorado Performance

The Colorado offers regular gasoline engine and diesel options. The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, producing 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque.

The diesel engine is available beginning on the LT trim. Paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, the diesel produces 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

2018 Chevrolet Colorado Efficiency

While fuel efficiency will vary based on your cab length, box length, and drivetrain, the Colorado’s estimated fuel economy ratings hold their own. When equipped with the V6 engine, the truck earns an estimated 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The diesel engine improves the Colorado’s fuel economy with an estimated 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

Pickup trucks are not usually admired for their interiors. Many of them are cramped for space and lack amenities inside the cabin. However, the 2018 Colorado has available technology integrated throughout the cabin, including wireless charging, remote keyless entry and remote start, a 7-inch color touchscreen, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. The Z71 offers heated front seats and single-zone automatic climate control for an even more comfortable ride.
