The iconic Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has returned for the 2020 model year. The latest iteration of this legendary truck offers more room, more conveniences, and a wealth of powertrain options.

Exterior

The Silverado 1500 is built to tow, and its new Vertical Trailering Mirrors make it easier to see around your trailer. Even if you aren’t towing a trailer, the Silverado is tough enough to haul whatever you need to get the job done. its Durabed, crafted from roll-formed high-strength steel, boasts 12 standard tie-downs, which is three times more than any of its competitors. Easily access the bed with the available Power Release tailgate, which you can activate using the key fob, a button inside the cabin, or a touchpad on the gate itself. It also boasts an available industry-first power-up/-down tailgate, which makes loading and unloading a breeze. Other available conveniences include a 120-volt outlet located near the tailgate and lighting around the hitch, cargo box, and perimeter of the truck.

Interior

The 2020 Silverado boasts an upgraded interior that’s bigger in almost every way. It now offers more shoulder room and rear passenger space, as well as best-in-class front head- and legroom. It also boasts plenty of smart storage solutions, thanks to its two available segment-first rear-seatback storage compartments, rear under-seat storage, and a roomy compartment in the available center console. If you’re looking to stay connected on the go, you’ll love the Siverado’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, as well as its available 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot. Powertrain and efficiency

There’s no shortage of powertrain options on the 2020 Silverado 1500.

The 4.3-liter V6 comes paired to a six-speed transmission. This standard mill puts out 285 horsepower, 305 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 7,900 pounds. You’ll find it standard on WT, Custom and Custom Trail Boss models.

It also offers 2.7-liter turbo engine which pumps out 310 horsepower, 348 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 7,100 pounds. This mill is paired with an eight speed automatic, and it boasts Active Fuel Management, which helps it earn 23 mpg city and 33 highway. You’ll find this engine standard on the LT and RST models, and available on Custom and Work Truck models.

You can also step up to the 5.3-liter V8, which delivers 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. You can pick between to variants of this engine — the Active Fuel Management version is available on WT, Custom and Custom Trail Boss trucks, while the Dynamic Fuel Management verion is standard on the LT Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country trims, and available on the LT and RST. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission on most trims, while the LT Trail Boss and High Country 4×4 boast a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The next step up, a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management, delivers best-in-class V8 horsepower and torque, with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Plus, it offers a best-in-class 13,400-pound maximum towing capability, when properly equipped. This engine is partnered with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and is offered on the High Country, LTZ, LT Trail Boss, RST and Custom Trail Boss models.

If you’re in the market for efficiency, consider the Duramax® 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel I-6. It earns 23 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway, while delivering 277 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and boasts a 9,300-pounds maximum towing capability. Plus, this quiet, powerful engine boasts fuel-saving auto stop/start technology for even greater efficiency. It’s available on LT, RST, LTZ and High Country models.
