The new 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has a ton, or maybe a half-ton, of reasons to feel superior to other trucks on Canadian roads. With a rating of 480-lb-ft of torque (light duty) and 1,000 lb-ft of torque (heavy duty) and a maximum towing capacity of 5,697 kg, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel promises a highly-responsive and capable ride.

These stats firmly establish the 2020 EcoDiesel-powered model has a force to be reckoned with and a leader in power.
“The new Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is Canada’s most powerful half-ton diesel pickup, following up on Ram’s Heavy Duty torque leadership and achieving what no other manufacturer has, with up to 480 lb-ft of torque in a 3.0-litre engine,” said Reid Bigland, head of Ram Brand. “The all-new EcoDiesel engine and our eTorque mild-hybrid powertrain technologies deliver the highest available fuel efficiency for our Ram 1500 customers.”
Not only does the 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6 present a 14 percent increase of power compared to its previous iteration, the improved engine features a “new-generation water-cooled turbocharger with variable geometry turbine” that “increases efficiency and responsiveness during transient conditions,” according to FCA Canada.
The sky’s the limit with the performance grade of this updated engine, as it has been built upon an award-winning template. For three years in a row from 2014-2016, the previous generation of the formidable engine easily secured a spot on “Wards 10 Best Engines Award.”
