It’s 2019, and fandoms are in full swing for myriad topics, products, and entertainment properties. Nerd culture is at the forefront of everything, with Avengers: Endgame laying waste to both the global box office and the pockets of moviegoers across the world. But here at The News Wheel, Earth’s mightiest heroes are an afterthought, as they tend to spend shockingly little time driving in between shield-throwing sessions and punching marathons.

So, today we’re going to talk about the prevalence of brand-specific forums and how enthusiastic commenters can be. More specifically, we will be talking about how remarkably active drivers of Subaru vehicles are on said forums.

The hub for all proud, curious, and/or communicative drivers of any number of Subaru automobiles can be found at NASIOC.com, a surprisingly specific initialism for the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club. Despite the specificity regarding the particular model of Subaru, the site’s Forum Rules section makes note of the fact that “While the club is very Impreza oriented, any Subaru owner can become an official member.” Thankfully for any fans outside the bounds of the USA, the same page also states that “Subaru enthusiasts outside of North America are welcome to become honorary members of the club.”

Subaru is one of many auto companies with active fanbases, such as the wildly popular and similarly specific PriusChat (Toyota), The Chevy Club of North America (Chevy, obviously), or even the Mazda Club of North America (Mazda, of course).

It does seem, though, that the admins of the NASIOC have created a space that is as comprehensive as any on the web. There are pages relating to everything from general topics like “Newbies & FAQs” or “Car Care & Detailing” to extremely technical threads such as “Factory 2.5L Turbo Powertrain EJ Series Factory 2.5L Turbo,” (currently being viewed by 131 users as of the writing of this article).

Not only are Subaru fans eating up the information made available to them by the NASIOC, they’re also eager to share their knowledge and opinions as well. The top-listed page on the site hosts 43,709 individual discussion threads and 1,150,519 posts.

If nothing else, the massive popularity of these sites, and the NASIOC in particular, proves that car lovers from gearheads to casual drivers have an internet presence to be reckoned with.
