Built to maneuver nimbly on busy streets and fit easily into tight city spaces, the 2020 Venue is the newest SUV in the Hyundai lineup. The Venue makes the most of its subcompact size, standing out with a confident exterior style, a versatile and comfortable interior, and plenty of tech for safe and connected travel. Customers can choose from among three Venue trims: SE, SEL, and Denim.

Exterior design

With its raised ride height and tough, upright stance, the Venue is designed to provide good visibility for drivers. These bold proportions are enhanced by an array of available exterior features like 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, a chrome grille, and roof rails. The Denim trim also offers a unique denim-colored paint job with a contrasting white roof and trim pieces.

The Venue’s surprisingly spacious interior offers plenty of room for both passengers and cargo. The cloth-trimmed seats fit up to five people, and the cargo bay fits 18.7 cubic feet of luggage or other items. Dual-stage cargo storage and a stowable rear shelf add to the Venue’s versatility. When the 60/40 split second row is folded down, cargo space expands to 31.9 cubic feet.

For extra comfort and convenience, the Venue offers an array of interior options like heated front seats, automatic temperature control, push-button start, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

Safety and infotainment tech

One of the Venue’s biggest selling points is its generous lineup of safety and infotainment technologies. On the safety side, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist, and Driver Attention Warning are included as standard features. For infotainment, all Venue trims come with an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.

Drivers looking for an upgrade can add options like navigation, SiriusXM, dual-USB charging, Bluetooth voice recognition, and Blind-Spot Collision Warning with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning.

Performance and efficiency

The Venue draws 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque from the zippy Smartstream four-cylinder engine under its hood. This engine connects to either a standard six-speed manual transmission on the SE or a standard Intelligent Variable Transmission on the SEL and Denim. For customized performance, SEL and Denim trims add three Drive Mode Select settings: Normal, Snow, and Sport.

With a manual transmission, the Venue gets 27 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined. With the IVT, it achieves 30 city mpg, 34 highway mpg, and 32 combined mpg.

With this newest addition to its lineup, Hyundai now offers a comprehensive spectrum of SUV options — from small vehicles like the Venue and Kona to its popular full-size Palisade flagship model.
