2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition VIN 001 Headed to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale
This Jan. 19 at the 48th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, the Gulf Oil-liveried 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition VIN 001 will hit the auction block. All proceeds raised by the first example of the latest GT Heritage Edition will benefit United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
“Ford Motor Company has been a long-standing supporter of United Way’s work throughout our 100-year history,” said Darienne Driver, president and CEO, United Way for Southeastern Michigan. “This incredible donation will allow us to enhance our efforts toward ensuring more families in underserved communities across southeast Michigan have access to the resources they need to thrive.”

The latest Ford GT Heritage Edition was unveiled in August, following similar vehicles that pay homage to the No. 2 GT40 Mk. II and the No. 1 GT40 Mk. IV that won at Le Mans in 1966 and 1967, respectively. Ford has already revealed that there will also be a 2020 Ford GT Heritage Edition to commemorate the No. 6 Ford GT40 Mk. IV that capped the Blue Oval’s incredible four-year run at Le Mans with a win in 1969.
The 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition package adds distinctive features like exposed carbon-fiber A-pillars, 20-inch one-piece forged aluminum wheels, and orange brake calipers in addition to the instantly-recognizable blue-and-orange Gulf Oil livery.
“The 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition instantly became one of the most anticipated cars in the world with its famous paint scheme,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president, Global Operations. “This car’s amazing history should help the United Way for Southeastern Michigan raise a lot of money to advance their mission of helping make lives better in our communities.”
In October, Ford announced that it is extending the GT program to accommodate another 350 cars by 2022. The application process for the extended run reopened on Nov. 8.
